Origin/meaning

The arms show the red cross of the State of Trier, to which the village historically belonged. The main bllue bend symbolises the Grenzbach river, the smaller bend the Dorfbach (or Quänkelbach). The birch leaf is a canting symbol (Birke=birch), whereas the water-mill wheel symbolises the fromer Fritze Mühle in the village, which was destroyed in the 1920s.
