Raised:1867 of Troops from the Duchy Sachsen-Altenburg, Principality of Reuss and the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt
The Sachsen-Altenburg contingent left in 1897 to form Infantry Regiment No 153, their place was taken by a newly raised Battalion of Prussian Soldiers.
