Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 17, 1884.

The lower half of the arms refer to the former Roman fortress in the area, with symbols for the 7th legion that was quartered there. The upper half shows the arms of the local Abbey of Baumburg, which played a major role in the town for 700 years.
