Official blazon
Polish blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The oldest part of the coat of arms, dating from the turn of the 14th/15th century, is the Archangel Michael. Archangel Michael is the patron of the city of Sanok.

During the 16th century the two other fields were added. They refer to Bona Sforza d'Aragona, the wife of King Sigismund I the Old, the ruler of Poland and Lithuania, and ruler of the Royal Castle in Sanok. She cared for the city and in gratitude the arms of Poland (eagle) and Sforza (snake devouring a person) were added to the arms.

The crown was added in 1772 as a symbol for a royal city.
