LANGWARDEN

State: Niedersachsen
District (Kreis): Wesermarsch
Incorporated into: 1933-1948 and since 1974 Butjadingen

Wappen von Langwarden/Arms (crest) of Langwarden
Official blazon

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1948.

The typical Frisian spear and shield are taken from the former Amt Rüstringen, to which the village historically belonged. The two crosses of St. John refer to the medieval monastery (Commanderies) of the Order of St. John in the village of Roddens and a small priory thereof in Sick in the municipality.

The colours are those of the original State of Oldenburg, as the area became part of Oldenburg in 1531.
