History: First formed in 1934 at Royal Naval Air Station Gosport (HMS Siskin), Hampshire as a Spotter-Reconnaissance Squadron. Later based at Royal Naval Air Station Hal Far (HMS Falcon), Malta and at sea on HMS Eagle. The Squadron then joined HMS Ark Royal until that ship was sunk in 1941. In 1951 become No 880 Squadron, Royal Canadian Navy. Finally reformed from 706 in 1982 for the duration of the Falkland War.

Origin/meaning

The Badge allude to HMS Eagle and the Island of Malta. The Latin Motto translates as "Nothing stops us". The Badge was approved on 19 March 1937.
