Wappen von Goßwitz/Arms (crest) of Goßwitz
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 10, 1995.

The eagle in the upper half is the Prussian eagle, symbolising that Gosswitz was a Prussian possession until 1945, the council used since 1815 a seal with the Prussian eagle.

The lower half shows a beech branch and beechnut. These are canting symbols for the village of Buchwitz (Buche=beech), and were also used in the 19th century seal of the village. The wavy division line and blue bar symbolise the village of Saalthal, which is situated along the Hohenwarte lake.
