Origin/meaning
As common in US episcopal heraldry, the arms show the arms of the diocese impaled with the personal arms of the bishop.
The personal half shows the arms of a Keyes family to symbolise the last name of the bishop, but with the tinctures reversed, and under addition of three shells, for Saint-Michael, baptismal patron of the bishop.
