Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 28, 1924.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from 1471. The arms are typical for a medieval seal, with the local castle/fortress/city surrounded by a moon and sun as symbols for eternity.
The arms as shown by Liljeblad, 1878 |
