The arms were officially granted on September 25, 1975.

The crosier refers to the so-called Remigiusland, an historical area ruled by the Bishop of Reims, Saint Remigius. The blue lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Veldenz, who ruled most of the area for a long time. The base is taken from the arms of [[Altenglan]].

The arms were officially granted on September 25, 1975.
