Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on March 22, 1929.
Ismaning was the capital of the County of Ismaning, which was sold in 1319 by King Ludwig to the Bishops of Freising. The Moor's head is the arms of the diocese of Freising. The large castle built in 1520 became in 1723 the summer residence of the bishops. The lower part shows the arms of Bishop Johann Franz Eckher von Kapfing und Liechteneck, who had the castle built as summer residence.
