BURNLEY (Rural district council)

Official blazon
Arms: Per chevron Or and vert, in chief two roses gules, barbed and seeded proper, and in base a bugle horn stringed gold; on a chief wavy sable a sprig of cotton also proper between two pairs of wheat-ears each in saltire and stalked, leaved and slipped of the first.
Crest: On a wreath of the colours, Issuant from reeds proper, a demi lion purpure, armed and langued vert, gorged with a collar argent charged with three mullets sable and holding in the dexter paw a shuttle palewise also sable, tipped and threaded gold.
Motto: Bono ruris consulere.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 8, 1955.
