Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 16, 1905 and reconfirmed on April 16, 1964.
The arms were designed in 1905 when the town needed a new city hall. The upper half shows a pors-plant (I don't know the English name), and is thus a canting symbol. The anchor symbolises the importance of the local harbour. The bend is the small river running through the town.
