Wallerfangen is the oldest city in Saarland, it got city righths in the late 13<sup>th</sup> century from Duke Friedrich III of [[Lorraine]]. It lost its importance in the 17<sup>th</sup> century after the building of the fortress in Saarlouis. The arms are based on the oldest known seal, dating from 1614. | |||

Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on April 6, 1979.
Wallerfangen is the oldest city in Saarland, it got city righths in the late 13th century from Duke Friedrich III of Lorraine. It lost its importance in the 17th century after the building of the fortress in Saarlouis. The arms are based on the oldest known seal, dating from 1614.
