The oldest seal of the town dates from the 17<sup>th</sup> century and already shows the hops flower. The cultivation of hops was the main activity in the area at the time. In the early 19<sup>th</sup> century the arms wrongly showed a bunch of golden grapes in a blue field. In the late 19<sup>th</sup> century the arms were completely forgotten, but were restored in original colours in 1954.
