ICOD DE LOS VINOS

Region: Canarias

English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 9, 1921.

The mountain Teide is dominating the landscape of Icod by its mere existence. The dragon-tree is an image of the 1000-years-tree of that kind within the village. The grapes are an alusion to the viticulture, which gave the municipality its name and its fame.

The supporters are the Guanche-chiefs of Icod, Daute, Adeje and Abona, who met here, in order to talk about peace negotiations with the Castilian conquerers.
