Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on August 18, 1986.
The arms show a linden tree surrounded by a ring and two wheat ears. The linden is a symbol for the local court that existed from the 15th century until 1807. The ring symbolises that the village is a Rundlingsdorf, a type of settlement with the houses in the horse-shoe or ring shape around a square. The wheat ears symbolise the agricultural character of the village.
The colours are those of the State of Braunschweig, to which the area historically belonged.
The arms are based on unofficial arms designed in 1980 that showed the same symbols, with an additional fish for the (former) importance of fishing for the village (see below).
