Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 16, 1958.
The arms are based on the old seal of the historical Amt Karrharde, of which Leck was the capital. The seal showed 5 trees, which was reduced to two in the arms. The anchor indicates that Leck was a port with direct access to the North Sea. The wavy bar symbolises the Lecker Au, which used to be navigable for smaller vehicles in the past, and helped Leck to become a trading center.
The fence is also taken from the seal and shows the fortification of the place, the protection of the market town and maybe also the former castle Leckhus. The market rights and the location on the old Ochsenweg increased the importance of Leck, especially as a cattle market.
The golden shield color indicates the prosperity that the inhabitants owed to the trade and especially the cattle markets.
