The arms are based on the newest seals of the city and show a canting swallow (Schwalbe) above the rose of [[Lippe (State)|Lippe]]. The oldest seals of the city showed a city with in the gate a 8-pointed star, taken from the arms of the Counts of Sternberg, who at the time ruled the area.

The arms are based on the newest seals of the city and show a canting swallow (Schwalbe) above the rose of [[Lippe]]. The oldest seals of the city showed a city with in the gate a 8-pointed star, taken from the arms of the Counts of Sternberg, who at the time ruled the area.
