In Silber über grünem Dreiberg zwei abgewendete, gestürzte schwarze Hifthörner.
Hornberg, which became a city in 1275, was the capital of the Lordship of Hornberg, which was an imperial fief. In the middle of the 15<sup>th</sup> century the larger part territory became a possession of Württemberg, other parts of the original territory had already been taken by other rulers (see [[Triberg im Schwarzwald]]).

The oldest seal is known from the 15<sup>th</sup> century, but is probably older. It shows the arms of the Lords of Hornberg, only the horns are placed facing the side of the shield, instead of facing each other as in the arms of the family. The arms are canting (Horn-berg = horn-mountain). The arms thus have not changed considerably, only the shape of the mountain changed regularly over the centuries.
