ARBERG

State:Bayern
District (Kreis):Ansbach (until 1973 Feuchtwangen)
Additions:1971 Kemmathen, Mörsach; 1978 Lellenfeld

Wappen von Arberg/Arms (crest) of Arberg
Official blazon
German In Rot auf grünem Dreiberg stehend ein linksgewendeter, flugbereiter goldener Adler, dem ein aufrechter silberner Bischofsstab hinterlegt ist.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show the canting eagle (Adler or Aar) and mountain (Berg) in front of a crosier. The crosier symbolises the fact that the area was ruled by the Abbey of Eichstätt since 1319. All seals and arms since the end of the 15th century show the same composition. The older seal only showed an eagle.
