Fallingbostel became a city in 1949 and at the same time the arms were granted. The colour red symbolises the heather, as the city is situated on the Lüneburger Heide, a large country full of heather. The beehive symbolises the longtime tradition to keep bees on the heather. The upper part shows a typical decoration of the farm roofs in Niedersachsen (see also [[Fischerhude]] and Buchholz]]). The wave in the base of the shield shows the Böhme river that runs through the city.
