PALTAMO
Region : Kainuu

Official blazon
Kultakentässä hirsittäin, alatusten, kolme mustaa tervavenettä tynnyreineen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 20, 1953.
The arms are canting, paltamo means a tar boat and the arms thus show three black boats. Tar was made for boats here since the 16th century, but only in the 19th century tar trading became of great local importance.
