English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on October 5, 1978.
The territory of Lorentzweiler was for a long time a possession of the Abbey of Echternach. The arms of the abbey were in gold a black eagle, with on its breast a red cross on which was placed a divine hand. This hand is taken in the present arms as a symbol for the abbey.
The bear is derived from the arms of the St. Maximinian Abbey in Trier, which had many possessions in the village of Hunsdorf.
The grill shown over the division line is the symbol of St. Lawrence (Lorentz), the local patron saint. The colours are derived from the arms of the Lords of Meysenbourg (derived from the Lords of Wiltz), who ruled the village of Blaschette, now in the municipality of Lorentzweiler.
