Additions : 1970 Kleine-Brogel; 1977 Grote-Brogel, Wijchmaal
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on June 30, 1862 and again on September 2, 1985.
In medieval times Peer belonged to the Loon county and the 10 bars are the arms of Loon. The meaning of the pales, however, is not known. The arms are based on the only known seal of Peer, dating probably from the 15th or 15th cnetury, as well as from a map from the 18th century. Both show the arms granted in 1862.
