Official blazon

Origin/meaning :
The arms are canting for the old Greek name of the area, Ankòn, which meand a bend arm. The name is based on the shape of the local coastline, where the Greeks founded the city of present Ancona. The arm already appeared on a local coin from the 4th century BC.
