Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The oldest seals of the town, which belonged to the diocese of Strassburg (Strasbourg), are known from 1436 and 1446. The shield showed arms with on the left side a crosier and in the left part a bend; the arms of the diocese of Strassburg. All later seals and images show the same composition, except that the bend was now seen as the arms of Baden, and no longer of Strassburg. The arms were officially approved, with the Baden arms, in 1901.
