Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 24, 1999.

The arms are canting: "les avellanes" in Catalan mean literally "the hazelnuts", and they contain in fact a fruited hazelnut tree. In 1970 the village of Santa Linya (symbolized here by a round-ended cross) joined this municipality.
