The Arms was approved 23 November 1945. The Reindeer Head is a Heraldic shortening of the Arms of Västerbotten. The Constellation indicates the northern location of Arjeplog.
The Arms was approved 6 November 1952. The Reindeer Horn symbolises the Reindeer hearding. The Three bends symbolises the Rivers Laisälven, Skellefteälven and Piteälven.
The Crescent isa metallurgical sign for Silver and indicates the Nasafjäll Silver Mine.
