Origin/meaningThe arms were adopted in 2019 and became valid on January 1, 2020. The arms show three sails, one for each of the former municipalities. The arms were chosen after a contest with over 2000 entries. FInally the inhabitants could vote among the following other proposals:
The arms show three tree trunks, or askekaller in Norwegian, and are thus canting. The trees are a kind of willow, which were cut every year to provide food for the animals. The trees thus developed after many years a very typical shape, which was characteristic for the area.
