Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 12, 1995.
The base of the shield shows the importance of mining in the Erzgebirge (ore-mountains). The tree symbolises the many forests and timber industry in the district. The wheel symbolises both the former water mills as well as the more recent industries in the district.
