Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
EPPSTEIN
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Urban district (Stadtkreis) : Frankenthal
Incorporated into : 1969 Frankenthal
Official blazon
In Gold der heilige Petrus wachsend, in blauem Mantel, mit goldenem Nimbus, in der Rechten ein mit dem Bart nach oben gekehrter silberner Schlüssel in der Linken ein rotes Buch mit goldenen Beschlägen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on June 27, 1841.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the village, known since 1609. The horseshoe, which may symbolize the local tradition of horse breeding, is a common village symbol in the Pfalz region. The colours are those of the Pfalz.
Literature : Debus, 1988.
