JAN VAN DIEST
Born :
Deceased : June 1, 1340
Bishop of Utrecht,
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
These are the arms of the diocese with the arms of the Van Diest family as an inescutcheon.
The seals of the bishop show three variations of the arms:
- the arms separated next to the bishop (i.e. 2 shields, one with the cross, the other with the bars)
- the arms quartered with Utrecht in I and IV and Diest in II and III
- the arms as above
The latter version is in line with the other bishops and thus shown above.
