Origin/meaning

The arms are the arms of the Van Arkel family, originatinig from the Netherlands. The bishop used a number of seals, both in Utrecht as in Liège. Some showed the bishop with only the Arkel arms, some show two shields, Arkel and the Diocese (Utrecht) as well as arms showing the cross of Utrecht with an inescutcheon of Arkel, see below.
