Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
ILLERKIRCHBERG
State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Alb-Donau Kreis
Additions : 1972 Oberkirchberg, Unterkirchberg
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 11, 1979.
The right half of the arms shows a black female figure, taking from the arms of both Ober- and Unterkirchberg. The image is the oldest arms of the Counts of Kirchberg. The cross is a simplified version of the cross in the arms of Unterkirchberg. The green mountain represents the hills in the area, on which one of the first churches was built. This hill is known as the Kreuzberg (cross-hill).
