ZUMIKON
Canton : Zürich
Official blazon
- (de) In Blau zwei gekreuzte silberne Schlüssel.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially adopted on October 4, 1931.
The arms have been used by the local council at least since 1744, as they appear on the buckets of the local fire brigade stamped with the date 1744. Four years earlier they appear as arms for the local parish. As the local parish was only established in 1731, the arms thus probably date from 1731 or shortly thereafter.
The two crossed keys are the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of the parish of Zollikon, from which the parish of Zumikon was created. Most likely the new parish kept the keys as its symbol. The colours most likely are those of the Zürich canton.
