Origin/meaning The arms are a combination of the lion of Sayn and the wolf-irons of the Lords of Flammersfeld and were officially granted in 1948. The Lords of Flammersfeld combined the irons with three stars. The family became extinct somewhere in the 15th century. The Counts of Sayn became owners of the town, to which they gave some privileges, around 1500.
