Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Austria - Österreichische Gemeindewappen |
HARTL
State : Steiermark
District : Hartberg
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 3rd, 1989.
This coat of arms is most original. Its sole charge is a double tressure, which also features in the Royal Arms of Scotland. Instead of fleur-de-lis, the tressure of Hartl is adorned with pine-cones, which are called Hirterbirn in the local dialect. The coat of arms originated in a local saying "Hartl is a kingdom ..."
