Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 30, 1996.

The upper half refers to the village Alvensleben and shows part of the arms of the Lords von Alvensleben, who had their estate in the municipality. See the image below.

The lower half refers to the village of Dönstedt and shows the linden tree, which was also present on the old seal of the village.
