BIAŁOGARD
Province: Pomorze Zachodnie
County: Białogard
Origin/meaning
The arms show the griffin of Pommerania, as the town is part of Pommerania (Pommern). The griffin can already be seen on the oldest known seal of the city, dating from the early 14th century. All later seals and arms show the same composition of griffin and river. The images, however, differ widely. Sometimes the griffin is standing on a grassy mound over which the river flows, and other small differences can be found.
