Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 4, 1985.

The upper part shows the local church in the colours of the diocese of Verdun, as the area was given to the Bishop of Verdun between 575 and 588. The lower half shows the local patron saint, St. Medardus, in the colours of the Counts of Veldenz, who ruled the village for many centuries.
