Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 24, 1963.

The arms are a combination of the deer antlers of the Counts of Nellenbach and the lion of the city of Messkirch. The deer antlers are similar to the arms of Württemberg, but differ only in colour. The Counts of Nellenbach and the Counts of Württemberg both were branches of the same family, originating from the Counts of Veringen. The deer antlers are also part of the arms of the city of Stockach.
