Origin/meaning

The plane in the cog wheel stands for the aviation and technology in Faßberg, which characterize the place through the military air base. The person in the lower half is a Heidschnuckenschäfer, a shepherd of the very typical moorland sheep bred in the area. There are extensive moor (heather) fields in the municipality. The juniper tree is a typical tree of the area and here has four branches, one for each of the former municiplaities.

The wavy pile refers to the Örtze river.
