Geteilt von Rot und Blau, darauf schräg gekreuzt eine silberne Hellebarde und ein silbernes Schwert Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on July 1, 1929. The divided shield is derived from the arms of the Kempten Abbey, to which the town historically belonged. The sword and axe symbolise the battle of Buchenberg from 1460, when the Swiss attacked the State of Kempten, but were defeated. Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
