FRAUENWALD

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Ilm-Kreis

Wappen von Frauenwald/Arms (crest) of Frauenwald
Official blazon
German

Geteilt von Grün und Silber; vorn eine silberne Frauengestalt im mittelalterlich-klösterlichen Gewand, hinten eine grüne bewurzelte Fichte.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 5, 1993.

The arms are canting, showing a woman (Frau) and a tree (for Wald, forest). The village developed around a convent after 1323. The woman thus is shown as a nun. The colour green symbolises the forest again.
