Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 12, 1960.
The upper part of the arms shows the arms of the city of Mosbach, an imperial city. The rest of the district historically belonged to either the Pfalz or the State of Mainz. The diamonds are taken from the arms of the Wittelsbach family, Princes of the Pfalz. The wheel is the wheel of the State of Mainz.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
