Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 24, 1960.

The arms are those of the Stappers family. The boots are a canting element, as stappen means to walk. Pieter Stappers bought the manors of Meensel, Neerhespen, Overhespen and Gussenhoven in 1750. The family were the last Lords of the manor until the early 19th century.
