Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 12, 1949.
The arms show one of the reels of a spinning loom. Home-spinning was an important activity in the village for many centuries. The colours are those of Oldenburg as well as Münster. Until 1803 the village was part of the State of Münster, from 1803-1945 of Oldenburg.
