Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 28, 1438 by Duke Ernst of Bayern-München and confirmed on April 24, 1836.
The background is the arms of Bayern, the meaning of the bend is unknown. During many centuries the original document was lost and it was thought the town did not have arms. Except for a stained-glass window in the church from 1655, there are no historical images of the arms. The document was rediscovered during the early part of the 20th century.
