Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 8, 1435 by Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg and Count Johann of the Pfalz, who together ruled the town. All later seals and images thus show these arms, of which the meaning is not clear. As a black boar is against the heraldic rule of tincture, the boar is often shown in natural colours.
